Eclectic Vintage Lakefront Wedding

Soft yellow mixed with black and white damask, set against the backdrop of a charming rustic lakefront venue, was the absolute perfect pallet for this eclectic vintage inspired wedding at FortWhyte Alive, an environmental preserve, in gorgeous Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Thank you so very much to the amazingly creative and talented Tracy and her equally as delightful groom, Jay, for sharing their special day with us.

The bride was beautifully adorned in an authentic 1960’s vintage mermaid cut damask wedding gown and vintage-jeweled birdcage veil.  Her shoes, by Sam and Libby, complemented her Swarovski accessories and unbelievable crystal belt.  The groom wore a dapper pinstriped suit from Moore’s and a bit of Swarovski bling himself.  SWOON!

Eclectic Lakefront Vintage Wedding Inspiration Fabulous food served in an easy and elegant environment was the experience the couple wanted for their 98 guests. Guests we served an amazing three course meal inspired by local and organic Manitoban ingredients and were invited to enjoy a refill of their Sweet tea lemonade before hitting the dance floor to the bride and groom’s own personal play list.  Special touches that made this wedding really pop against the fresh, green backdrop of the lakefront venue included; hand selected vintage vases and milk glass, birds and birdcages, steel colored damask table runners against white linens, yellow daisies and white zinnias, and fresh lemons and lemonade. The best part – many of these lovely details were DIY!!  This bride knows style and we LOVE it!

Homespun Vintage Wedding – Brooklyn Style

For Elizabeth and Todd, having friends and family involved in the planning of their hometown mid- century/modern minimalist style vintage inspired wedding made their day even more special than they could ever have dreamed.  The ceremony and reception were held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on an absolutely perfect Summer day. We are honored that this lovely couple invited us to share their very personal day with our readers.

The Bride wore an authentic blush toned tea length vintage wedding dress exclusively from the collection at Mill Crest Vintage.  She paired it with a full petticoat and simple tiara with removable net veil.  Gorgeous!!!!

Five bridesmaids were adorned in vintage inspired dresses in a pallet of pastels, which perfectly complemented the summer colors of their flower bouquets and the blush tones of the bridal dress.

The bride shared with Mill Crest Vintage – “Having harbored a longtime love of all things vintage, we enjoyed mixing mid-century elegance with modern minimalism to create our own wedding aesthetic. It was very important to the both of us that we share our marriage celebration with our beloved family and friends around the home that we love so much: Brooklyn! The Prospect Park Picnic House served as a perfect location, as it had been the meeting place for many past barbecues and birthday parties over the years; the park was a natural choice as many of our friends live near and around it (it’s also a quick walk from our apartment, and served as a perfect backdrop for private and social pre-wedding photos). It was also important for us to work with local Brooklyn vendors, from finding the perfect wedding rings and the immense wedding cake spread from One Girl Cookies to the exclusive Brooklyn Brewery beer selection at the reception. We also chose to handcraft as much of the wedding elements as possible, incorporating our beloved family and friends where we could. – We both felt incredibly lucky to have had such a wealth of support from loved ones who came together from all over the world to celebrate and share in our wedding celebration!”

It was a true family affair.  Music for the ceremony was bagpiped by the bride’s brother-in-law and the groom’s cousin officiated the ceremony.  DIY vintage touches were in full swing – as much of the programs, stationary and wedding favors were designed and hand-made by the bride, friends and family. The couple’s decision to include a photo booth at the reception (a genius offer, compliments of the photographers) resulted in hundreds of priceless moments that were turned into cherished memories.  LOVE!
